2019 is the International Year of Indigenous Languages by United Nations

Baybayin Summit 2.0

"Indigenous Spoken and Written Languages for Development, Peace Building, and Reconciliation." May 2-4, 2019, CCP, Pasay City, Philippines 3 days of affinity for our culture, through our written and spoken language. 3 days of celebrating the diversity of our people. 3 days of laying groundwork for igniting the passion to strengthen our identity.

The cliche goes, in order to understand the present or the future you have to know the past. And our present is rife with colonialism and disdain for our real identity. We constantly surrender our heritage to seek validation in a society dictated by foreign culture. It is time we retreated within ourselves to forego the 400 years of slavery that broke our link to our ancestors. Let us reconcile our differences and foster camaraderie. Let us denounce colonial mentality. Let us support what is ours, love what is ours, be proud of what is ours. Mabuhay ang ating kultura!

This was truly one of the most fullfilling events that I have been a part of. Maraming salamat Baybayin Buhayin and everyone who made this monumental event possible.

Inivted guests include: Loren Legarda, Pia Cayetano, Teddy Locsin Jr., Leonor Briones, Prospero Popoy De Vera, Felipe De Leon Jr., Zeus Salazar, Leopoldo Batoil, John Leyson

CalligraFilipino / Baybayin fine art calligraphy is the modern interpretation of our ancestral writing, taking inspiration from our traditional culture.
